The Mexican footwear and manufactures event celebrated its 87th edition between Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th August, at the Poliforum León exhibition center in the state of Guanajuato, where local and international producers and buyers met.
For this edition, the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) -organizer of the exhibition- proposed the slogan #RunForTrends, which invited to advance, live experiences and enjoy the world, through the creation of collections with innovative, dynamic and vibrant shapes.
SAPICA obtained superior results in terms of visitors and exhibitors. In this sense, the three days of the fair translated into 2,323 total buyers, registering an increase of 9.5% in relation to the event corresponding to the same season, in August 2021. There were more than 350 exhibitors, a greater number than in last March's edition.
Disaggregated, 2,176 national buyers participated, predominantly from Guanajuato, Jalisco, Mexico City, Mexico and Michoacán. Compared to the same exhibition of the previous year, attendance grew by 7.7%.
The variation was also positive among the 147 international buyers, with a rise of 47% year-on-year. The United States stood out among the countries represented, followed by Central Americans such as Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica, according to reports from the organization.
SAPICA's exhibition offer, related to footwear and leather goods, was integrated into various complementary initiatives, including the Developing Companies sector, the participation of influencers and SAPICA's party (music and fashion party).
The Knowledge Pavilion programming included conferences focused on the consumer, business, social media, market trends, start-ups, and how to sell on Amazon.
All the talks managed to capture the interest of a good number of visitors, highlighting the presentation by Marcus Dantus, "Keys for a start-up". The angel investor and entrepreneur was attended by 605 people.
In addition, the event also added the presentation "In scrambled river, profit for exporters", by Luis Ernesto Rojas Ávila -general director of COFOCE (Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade of the State of Guanajuato)-. There, he delved into the export opportunities of the state in particular and of Mexico in general, thanks to the trade dispute between the United States and China, the relocation of manufacturing from the East, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the pandemic, among other causes.
At the opening ceremony of SAPICA, various leaders and officials spoke, including Alejandra Gutiérrez -mayor of León-, who focused on the need for joint work between the public and private sectors, highlighting the resumption of the industrial activity in the city.
The opinion was shared by Alfredo Padilla Villalpando -president of CICEG-, confirming the growth in the sector and the relevance of sharing initiatives with government authorities, research centers and academic spaces.
According to the announcement made by the promoters of the fair, the next version is scheduled from March 7th to 9th, 2023.
