EXPOCAIPIC: A boost of optimism amid the crisis

Despite the difficulties facing the footwear sector, the suppliers’ fair served as a major incentive to help overcome the challenging period.

After a long period without a formal presentation, EXPOCAIPIC reaffirmed its importance for the footwear and manufactured good sector.

The 74th edition of EXPOCAIPIC was held on May 12, 13 and 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Hall of the Americas at the National University of La Matanza, in the province of Buenos Aires, 25 km from downtown the autonomous city of Buenos Aires and 26 km from Aeroparque.

Despite the difficult political, economic and social context affecting Argentina’s footwear industry, marked by a sharp decline in consumption, exhibitors and manufacturers gathered at the suppliers’ event with the hope of finding alternatives and solutions to address the current situation.

The fair opened amid doubts and uncertainty regarding its development. However, the growing flow of visitors improved the atmosphere and generated enthusiasm.

The number of attendees exceeded the initial expectations of both organizers and exhibitors.

The Hall of the Americas at the University of La Matanza hosted 42 exhibitors occupying 62 stands. Among them were six Brazilian companies, coordinated by ASSINTECAL, the association of suppliers from that country.

The overall offer included leather, synthetic materials, textiles, supplies, soles, lasts, various components, accessories and technology.

The proposal in fashion products and materials appeared highly up to date, in line with the latest international trends for Spring-Summer 2026/27.

According to information from the organizing entity -CAIPIC- the total number of visitors was close to 800 people over the three days of the fair, mostly from Argentina and neighboring countries such as Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Brazil. In addition to the event’s own appeal, attendance was facilitated by its location: La Matanza, a well-known footwear production area. Another factor that had a positive influence was the ease of movement within the university venue, which offered infrastructure including a large internal area for free, monitored parking.

In summary, the fair closed with positive results for exhibitors and visitors, beyond the difficult situation currently affecting the sector. It was a long-awaited reunion between suppliers and manufacturers, which served to exchange ideas, listen to opinions, evaluate new proposals and strengthen ties to help ensure the continuity of the industry.
