E-commerce parcels to be subject to tariff

As of 1 July 2026, the European Union will temporarily apply a customs charge of € 3 to e-commerce shipments valued below € 150, following a political agreement among its Member States.

The fee will vary according to the composition of the parcel: it will be charged once when it includes multiple units of the same item, and per item when it contains different products, according to World Footwear.

The decision was taken with the aim of reducing the competitive advantage of non-EU operators and in response to pressure to accelerate changes, given the inflow of low-priced goods associated with platforms such as Shein, Temu and AliExpress.
