Anti-deforestation regulation sets new deadlines

The European Union Anti-Deforestation Regulation, which has implications for the leather business, will have new implementation dates following the vote held on 26 November in the European Parliament. In that plenary session, the Council’s proposal to postpone its entry into force by one year was approved by a majority.

With this change, medium-sized and large companies will be subject to the regulation from 30 December 2026, while micro and small enterprises will do so from 30 June 2027.

Further details are expected in April 2026, after the file moves to the trilogue between the Council, Parliament and Commission to reconcile amendments, according to La Conceria.
