Given the recent political crisis of then-president Pedro Castillo and after his dismissal, various protests were generated starting on December 7th. In this context, there were attempts to loot, confrontations with the police and blockades.
Daniel Hermoza -director of Mypes Unidas del Perú (MUP)-, explained to the newspaper La República that sectors such as footwear, internal tourism and clothing are those that receive the greatest impact. In addition, he mentioned that losses of 200 to 300 million soles were estimated in sales in all sectors, five days after the protests began.
For the year-end holidays, sales could decrease by 15% to 20%, which would be around 2 billion Peruvian soles less, product of a discouraged consumer.
