Junín expands technological capacity for leather and footwear


Following a major investment in technology, micro and small companies will gain access to numerous productivity benefits.

More than 800 micro and small leather and footwear companies will be able to use the infrastructure of the technical unit installed in San Jerónimo de Tunán, Huancayo. The project, presented by the Technological Institute of Production (ITP) of the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE), required an investment of S/19.4 million (more than US$ 5 million).

The facilities include pilot plants for footwear and tanning, design and development areas, stitching sections, as well as workshops and laboratories. It will also provide training and support for formalization and digitalization.

The objective is to promote participation in local and global markets and improve competitiveness, according to the Peruvian Government.
