They did not accept official proposal

Before the claims of the industrial sector, the government offered the shoemakers to maintain tariffs at 25% and 30% for a period of two years, to reduce them to 15% in the third year, and finally to 5% and 8% in the fourth year. Together with these measures, financing sources for the sector were offered.

In response, Luis Gerardo González -president of CICEG- expressed his disagreement with the initiative, and noted that a new counterproposal is being elaborated that contemplates competitiveness, equity of conditions and the continuity of the value of tariffs, as reported from the entity.
