More imported footwear
Footwear entered the country in the first nine months of the year totaled 96 million pairs, for a value of US$ 1,241 million. Thus, the volume of imported goods was close to the figures for 2014, while the value is compared to that of 2007, according to data from the General Administration of Customs (AGA) and the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG).
The trade balance favors imports, which exceed shipments of Mexican products abroad by 99.8%, local media reported.
China is positioned as the largest supplier of footwear, with sales of 53 million pairs and US$ 466 million in the aforementioned months. Thus, the positive variations were 43% and 69%.
