Mexico imposes definitive duties on Chinese footwear

The Secretariat of Economy concluded its antidumping investigation into Chinese footwear with the imposition of definitive compensatory duties. Chinese imports entering below US$ 22.58 per pair must now cover the difference up to that import value, according to CICEG.
The resolution was supported by a CIATEC study documenting similarities between Mexican footwear and the analyzed imports, as well as negative impacts across several indicators: lower production, declining domestic sales, increased inventories, loss of installed capacity, and reduced employment.
CANAICAL, CICEG, and CICEJ welcomed the measure, which applies to sandals, boots, casual footwear, and sports sneakers with textile or synthetic uppers and soles.
