This was reported by authorities of the Guanajuato Footwear Chamber -CICEG- and the National Footwear Chamber -CANAICAL- to the local media. Adding that the entities are making the pertinent procedures before the state and federal government so that the sector is considered essential, so that it can resume its activities through protocols.
According to the president of both institutions, Luis Gerardo González García, "if the contingency continues for another month, 70% of the leather and footwear MSMEs will be forced to lower the curtains."
The data was obtained through the survey carried out by CONCAMIN -Industrial Chambers Confederation- which registered that 70% of the companies interviewed could close their doors if the situation continues beyond June 1, while the rest could reopen if it had effective access to some credit.
Regarding the reopening forecasts, the industrialists consider that they are very uncertain and diverse, since some calculate for mid-May, others for the beginning of June and the federal authorities do not have a made decision either.
Some of the alternatives being considered talk about requesting the federal government to include the footwear industry in the fashion sector, as essential. To do this, there are legislators who are making arrangements in this regard.
In industrial media, the need arises to gradually open up the activity, in order to reactivate the economy, such as, for example, starting with the manufacture of shoes for doctors, nurses and health professionals. Pending the return of students to schools in August to start selling school shoes. In this way, an indispensable flow of money for manufacturers would enter.
