China, the leading supplier of footwear
During 2020, 72.7 million pairs of footwear entered Mexico, of which 53.3% came from China. For its part, Vietnam was the supplier of 24.6% of total imports, followed by Indonesia, which accounted for 10.5%, according to figures from the General Administration of Customs.
Textile footwear had a share of 44.5% in the volume entered; while the synthetic reached 36.4%; leather footwear, 11.5%; and the waterproof footwear, 2.5%, as reported by CICEG.
