Farewell to Roberto Pellegrini: the strategic vision that connected global footwear
The passing of Roberto Pellegrini, on August 8, at the age of 76, after fighting an illness whose condition had worsened in the previous weeks, has brought grief and sorrow to the event organization sector.
He was president of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, the company that promotes the footwear and manufactured goods fair Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, held in Riva del Garda, Italy.
His passing leaves a deep void in the sector, but also an enduring legacy that transformed the commercial and relationship dynamics of global footwear and leather goods manufacturing.
Throughout his 19 years leading the organizing body of Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags, Pellegrini not only consolidated the Italian event as an essential meeting point for high-volume production and intermediation, but also understood before many others the imperative of internationalization. His visionary drive brought the fair’s identity to stages in the Middle East and Asia, building solid bridges with the world’s main production and consumer hubs.
