Colombia extends 35% tariff on imported footwear until 2025

The government measure tends to create conditions that stimulate national production.

In a period of growth, the new official decision will benefit the local footwear industry.

Through Decree 2632 of December 30th, 2022, the Colombian government extended for 3 years, until the end of 2025, the 35% tariff on imported footwear.

The objective is to promote the industrialization process of the footwear sector, productivity and the creation of new jobs.

The footwear that will pay the 35% tariff during this period will be those that have a value less than or equal to the thresholds established between 6 and 10 dollars, depending on the type of footwear or the tariff subheading.

For imported uppers, the decree will be in force when the declared value is less than or equal to 5 dollars.

Footwear entering Colombia, with which the country maintains current trade agreements, are exempt from this measure.
