Leather industry faces a challenging first half of the year

Unstable raw material prices and weak global demand affected the leather industry, which also faced a complex international environment.
In the first half of 2026, industry exports amounted to US$ 40.9 billion, while imports reached US$ 7.9 billion. These figures represented a 5.4% decline in exports and a 4.9% increase in imports, according to All China Leather Exhibition.
Future performance is projected to remain unchanged, with products increasingly focused on technology, added value and sustainability.
