Sector entities reject removing e-commerce tax
ABICALÇADOS and ASSINTECAL joined, alongside other entities, the Manifesto for Tax Equality against the possible elimination of the import tax applied to products marketed through digital commerce platforms.
The entities warned that a change of this type would affect the footwear and leather chain. Haroldo Ferreira, executive president of ABICALÇADOS, stated that the industry is going through a delicate stage, while Silvana Dilly, superintendent of ASSINTECAL, indicated that, since the tariff came into force in June 2024, the sector has operated under more balanced conditions in relation to those platforms.
