“Made in Brazil” footwear will be showcased this September at one of the world’s leading footwear fairs. MICAM Milano, celebrating its 100th edition, will feature 79 Brazilian brands from September 7 to 9 at Fiera Milano (Rho) in Milan, Italy. The participation of the Brazilian industry is made possible by Brazilian Footwear, a footwear export promotion program of the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in collaboration with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
Traditionally, Brazil represents the third-largest international delegation at the fair, which brings together more than 1,000 exhibiting brands and attracts buyers from 150 countries. According to Abicalçados’ business coordinator, Paola Pontin, the event holds strategic importance for Brazilian companies: “Brazilian Footwear has supported Brazil’s participation since 2007, and over these 18 years, MICAM Milano has been essential in expanding the international presence of Brazilian footwear, opening new markets, and consolidating global clients. It is an opportunity to highlight the characteristics and uniqueness of the world’s fourth-largest footwear manufacturer, and the largest in the Western Hemisphere.”
Strategically, Brazil’s presence at the fair also reflects the new international footwear trade landscape, shaped by the recent tariff policies applied by the United States on imports, which have affected the entry of Brazilian footwear into its main consumer market.
Increased participation in trade fairs thus represents an alternative to diversify and expand Brazilian footwear exports.
At MICAM’s traditional fashion shows, 15 Brazilian footwear brands have been selected to present their latest collections to international visitors.
