As reported by ASSINTECAL -Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods- shipments increased, especially to Latin American countries, which suffer from the high costs of freight from China. "Of the eight main destinations, five are from Latin America", they pointed out from the entity.
They highlighted the increases in exports to the United Arab Emirates, with an increase of 98%, and the Dominican Republic of 43%. Both are the result of negotiations that took place during INSPIRAMAIS last January, and APLF in Dubai, in April.
Even with growth below the general average, China continues to be the main destination for Brazilian products, especially chemicals for leather treatment. Between January and May, exports to that country totaled US$ 39.8 million, 11% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The second main buyer was Argentina, which imported the equivalent of US$ 39.2 million in Brazilian components, 60% more than the same period in 2021.
Portugal followed, with an increase of 49% (US$ 24.3 million) in comparison with last year.
The main component exporting states in the first five months of the year, by turnover, were: Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Bahia.
The products with the highest demand were: chemicals for leather, uppers, chemicals for footwear, adhesives, soles, synthetic laminates and insoles.
