Important increase in imports of hides and skins

According to data provided by SECEX, the entry of hides and skins to the Brazilian market was 1.1 million square meters in the first quarter of 2021, for a total of US $ 12.8 million.

In relation to the same months of last year, the variations showed a growth of 116.9% in volume and 59% in value, according to information prepared and disseminated by CICB.

Sources of the tanning entity, specified that the increase in imports of raw material is due to the fact that Brazil needs to buy leathers abroad -mainly in the United States and Uruguay- to complement the portfolio of clients of final products in the automotive and furniture.
