The Buyer Project Argentina, organized by the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods (ASSINTECAL) through Brazilian Materials, a program promoting the internationalization of the sector, in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX-BRASIL), is expected to generate US$ 650,000 for Brazilian companies. The initiative took place on October 28 in Novo Hamburgo (RS), where more than 50 business rounds were held between five industrial groups and 17 Argentine companies.
According to ASSINTECAL’s International Market Manager, Luiz Ribas Júnior, the project aimed to strengthen business relations with the Argentine market, a country that has recently relaxed its import restrictions. “Argentina is one of the main markets for Brazilian components, and in this context, the project proved to be highly successful, with business already taking place and further negotiations being set for the coming months,” he stated.
One of the invited importers, Tiago Paranhos from the SAXS Group in Buenos Aires, highlighted that the initiative facilitated long-term business opportunities and partnerships with new material suppliers. “Even though Argentina is going through a delicate economic phase, with reduced consumption, there is still strong production demand, which brought us here in search of new materials, especially uppers, elastics, and hook-and-loop fasteners,” he explained. Paranhos, who distributes these materials to local factories, emphasized the high quality and trend alignment of the products. “Brazilian material producers benefit from a strong trend curation through INSPIRAMAIS. Here, we can anticipate our purchases based on that knowledge,” he concluded.
Germán Schneider, from PIRA Calzados, producing 1,500 pairs per day, come to Brazil in search of textiles. He pointed out that, although Brazilian materials are priced higher than Asian alternatives, “their quality is far superior.” “We took samples and closed some important deals. In addition to superior quality, we also save time thanks to the logistical advantages of proximity,” noted the Buenos Aires-based buyer.
With the support of Brazilian Materials, the Argentine groups participating in the business rounds included Donné, Lucía Febrero, Mishka, Pira Calzados, and SAXS. On the Brazilian side, participating companies comprised Spark Hotfix, Wiva Bordados, Texfyt, Jotaclass, Erps, Ônix, MecSul, Tecnomaq, Ambiente Verde, Curtume Abuhler, Elastonordeste, CR Leather, Couro Arte, Tecpol, Artecola, Curtume Zitty, and AngellMaq.
