Brazilian leather sector discusses tariff in Washington

The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) carried out a Business Mission in Washington, holding meetings with U.S. government authorities, members of the Brazilian Embassy and US Parliament, and business leaders to address the 50% tariff applied to Brazilian imports.
The leather industry was represented by Rogério Cunha, a member of the Market Intelligence Department of CICB, who emphasized the importance of leather for U.S. manufacturing chains, including footwear, automotive, furniture, and luxury goods.
Some meetings included exchanges with importers and industry representatives, highlighting that the U.S. market absorbs around 15% of Brazil’s leather exports on average, mainly consisting of finished leather, according to CICB.
