Brazilian footwear would face a cumulative 37.5% surcharge in the USA

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced on July 23, 2026, a tariff increase affecting goods originating in Brazil and other markets. Footwear is among the products affected and will face a cumulative surcharge of 37.5%.
ABICALÇADOS reported that the 12.5% surcharge resulted from the conclusion of an investigation conducted under Section 301, related to forced labor. The measure is added to the 25% tariff announced on July 15, which was due to take effect on the 22nd. The association stated that the decision once again affects trade relations with the United States.
