PUMA will increase its footwear production in Argentina

Through a statement, the German brand announced a series of investments in its plant in La Rioja and new stores in Buenos Aires.


Good news for the ailing Argentine industry that is trying to recover, given the prospects of a new stage in its economy.

With the incorporation of two new production lines, PUMA Argentina will add 450 thousand pairs of sneakers per year and will generate 100 new jobs in its factory in La Rioja.

Currently, PUMA employs more than 850 people in the country, this expansion of its production capacity implies greater demand for operators, which will be added to the 450 already existing. The incorporations will begin at the end of this year, starting the training process, and it is estimated that by the end of the first quarter of 2021 both production lines will be in operation.

The German company has a strong roots in the country and has been present in the market for 40 years and has its own factory, the largest in the country. Of the total volume of footwear sold by the brand in Argentina, 60% is locally produced. Today, at its assembly plant in the Province of La Rioja, approximately 1.4 million pairs of sneakers are produced per year.

To the investment of $ 240 million pesos to increase the productive capacity of its plant, the company will add another investment project of an additional $ 150 million for the opening of new stores, one in Alto Palermo and another on Florida Street, in Buenos Aires city, which will generate at least 40 new jobs.

"In this way, PUMA confirms its commitment to the country by being the only sports brand that integrates national production and the commercialization of its products through the multi-brand commercial network and its own store network", the statement concluded.
