With a production volume in 2018 of 90 million pairs of footwear, at the end of 2019 the quantity is expected to be 8% lower. The negative variation is also expected for labor sources, which could be reduced by 30% during this year in direct and indirect work, while the retraction was 22% in 2018, according to data from companies that are part of the Chamber of the Footwear Industry (CIC, in Spanish). Foreign sales between January and July 2019 were 43% lower in quantity than in the same months last year. On the other hand, footwear imports decreased 26% in the first eight months of the year, linked to a recessive sector, as detailed from CIC.
