Between August 24th and 26th, the 85th edition of SAPICA was held at the Poliforum León fairgrounds of México in its live version, in addition to the virtual platform. In this sense, the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) -organizer of the fair- once again promoted a hybrid event.
Under the slogan #APasoFirme, the exhibition was consolidated as a space for the promotion of companies, the generation of business and the exchange of knowledge, where optimism, cordiality and confidence of the industry reigned.
The organization stated that buyers and exhibitors showed enthusiasm and satisfaction at the closing of SAPICA, with positive results and the feeling of reactivation in the sector.
Alfredo Padilla Villalpando -president of CICEG- announced in his weekly editorial that Mexican buyers increased by 70% in relation to the last edition of March 2021. As for international buyers, there was a growth of twice the previous attendance. It was observed that foreign visitors are in search of alternative footwear areas in various countries, to replace the purchases from Asia that currently present difficulties. In this sense, Mexico could be a possible supplier to complete the footwear proposal, according to the leader.
Thus, exhibitors -local manufacturers- and national and foreign buyers gathered at the exhibition center, taking into account the corresponding health protocols in the framework of the pandemic. There, they were able to meet and exhibit different proposals, where the casual footwear prevailed in relation to the exhibition area, followed by children's shoes, cowboy, sports shoes and leather goods.
In order for the footwear, fashion and leather sector to be promoted, through the understanding of its problems and challenges, SAPICA carried out the Knowledge Pavilion. In this area, various speakers gave conferences such as: "Learn to create community in social networks", "Technology in business and monkeys on skates", "Trends Mexico 2022, How to use them correctly? Prospects towards 2022, landing on footwear, consumer attitudes”, “Re-program: Learn to dance with uncertainty and change, re-create your way of thinking and re-program yourself” and “Omnichannel experience: opportunity for a leap in sales and service”.
In addition, in the E-commerce Pavilion, the visitor had the opportunity to learn about ways to create their own website, position a virtual store, generate advertising campaigns and learn about inventory and shipping logistics.
The exhibition area also had a space reserved for Emerging Talent and Developing Companies.
Among other complementary activities, in this edition fashion shows returned, with the formats of “Exclusive Brands Catwalk” and “Strike Catwalk”; while on the third day of the fair the Entrepreneurs Meeting was held through a press conference.
Héctor López Santillana -Municipal President- was part of the opening ceremony of the Leather and Footwear Show. In his welcome speech, he affirmed that the promotion of companies will continue to exist from government authorities, because they generate progress and jobs in the community, as reported on the fair's website.
