FOOTWEAR AND LEATHER GOODS
MEXICO – LEÓN/GUANAJUATO

In early August 2026, SAPICA 95 took place at Poliforum León under the theme “FUTURA 100+”. The event projected approximately 14,000 business meetings and attracted more than 2,200 domestic and international buying companies, with over 380 exhibitors and an offering of more than 2,000 brands.
Ahead of the trade fair, Juan Carlos Cashat Usabiaga, president of the National Chamber of the Footwear Industry (CANAICAL) and the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG), outlined the economic importance of Guanajuato's Fashion Cluster. According to his figures, the cluster comprises more than 19,500 establishments and employs over 150,000 direct workers, while more than 6,000 of these production units manufacture footwear and leather goods. Its contribution to Gross Domestic Product places it third among Guanajuato's economic sectors.
Two anniversaries provided the backdrop for SAPICA 95: 100 years of the organized footwear industry and the 450th anniversary of León. This double commemoration was reflected in the “100 Years Walking Together” fashion show at the Municipal Palace, which revisited the industry's history through design and creativity.
According to the organizers, the 96th edition of the Mexican leather and footwear trade fair was announced for March 2–4, 2027, at Poliforum León, Guanajuato.
