Positive results for Spanish, Brazilian and Portuguese exhibitors at MICAM in Italy

The three countries reported strong results at one of the largest international footwear trade fairs, held last September.

SPAIN

Spain once again consolidated its position as the second-largest foreign delegation at the event (surpassed only by host country Italy). Participation was coordinated by the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) together with ICEX.

A total of 88 companies attended, representing 109 Spanish footwear brands. The Elche (Alicante) cluster once again played a leading role within the Spanish delegation, accounting for approximately 34% of all national companies participating in the exhibition. Spanish participation took place in a favorable environment for foreign sales, following a 1.5% increase in exports during the first half of the year, reaching €1,706 million.

Collections focused on comfort, sustainability and summer fashion design generated a significant volume of contacts and commercial activity with buyers from Central Europe, North America and Asia.

BRAZIL

The Brazilian delegation participated through the Brazilian Footwear program, managed by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in conjunction with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

Brazil was represented by a significant delegation of between 64 and 80 national brands, ranking among the top five non-European countries in terms of exhibitor presence.

Brazilian companies concluded agreements during the fair and projected business worth more than US$ 25.3 million as a result of their participation. The key footwear production centers of Vale dos Sinos, Novo Hamburgo and Franca highlighted the excellent commercial momentum achieved in women's footwear, men's leather footwear and comfort lines.

PORTUGAL

The Portuguese delegation was organized under the Portuguese Shoes brand and supported by APICCAPS (Portuguese Footwear, Components and Leather Goods Manufacturers' Association).

A total of 29 Portuguese companies exhibited at the fair, with the Felgueiras industrial cluster standing out, maintaining its leading role and accounting for approximately one-third (33%) of all Portuguese exhibitors.

Portugal based its offering on high-quality leather craftsmanship, production flexibility and the circular economy. Commercial results were described as very positive in terms of securing orders for high-end boutiques and importers from Europe and the Middle East.
