They are a type of footwear designed to fit the foot and ankle with the same firmness, flexibility and softness with which a glove adapts to the hand.
They are characterized by a minimal structure, ultra-stretch materials and a clean, minimalist silhouette that eliminates the traditional rigid elements of structured footwear.
This concept extends to different bootie and boot models, with varying heel and shaft heights, although flat versions predominate.
They are mainly made from ultra-soft nappa leather with stretch treatment, elasticized fabrics, high-density Lycra or knit textiles. Their unstructured construction does without rigid heel counters or hard toe-caps, prioritizing the natural ergonomics of the foot.
They lack laces or bulky flaps. If they include a zipper, it is thin or invisible; in many cases, they are directly pull-on models.
They usually feature very thin or flexible soles, accompanied by slim heels, flat block heels or flat-style soles.
Glove boots are becoming established as a wardrobe staple. Luxury brands such as The Row, Bottega Veneta and Celine have promoted versions in ultra-flexible bovine and goat leather with a matte, refined appearance.
