Who is the Chinese designer who renews the "ugly shoes"?

Angel Chen, by dint of transgressing the known, grows in the taste of Westerners.

Born in Shenzen, China, at 17 she traveled to London to study fashion at Central Saint Martins College. Her internships were carried out for the brands MARCHESA, VERA WANG and ALEXANDER WANG in New York.

The designs in different areas of clothing -including footwear- are characterized by a personal handling of applied color, which expresses an interesting fusion between Eastern and Western aesthetics.

Opening roads

Over time, Angel Chen created her own brand, managed the manufacture of her products and achieved a select clientele among the most recognized international retailers, such as SELFRIDGES (United Kingdom), LANE CRAWFORD (Hong Kong), LUISA VIA ROMA (Italy) and DONG LIANG (China).

She presents her proposals in the most famous international fashion shows in Shanghai, London, Paris, New York and Milan.

One of its greatest achievements during 2019 was the collaboration agreement reached with the commercial chain H M to exclusively develop a capsule collection of 45 pieces, which were launched in Europe last October.

On the other hand, she worked with celebrities such as CHRIS LEE, KRIS WU FAN BINGBING, BELLA HADID, and CHARLI XCX, creating custom garments for influential pop culture figures.

And the shoes?

Certainly they are a complement of her lush creative production, which uphold the aesthetic precepts of Angel Chen.

Lots of color, disruptive and hybrid designs, with an urban sporty profile and exaltation of chunky soles, with “aggressive claw” moldings that give strength and solidity to the models.

Incorporation of exotic synthetic materials and woven uppers, with ropes, pins and accessories, are other details that add identity to the products.
